A regulated DC power supply, also known as regulated variable DC power supply, variable DC power supply or adjustable DC power supply, is a device that converts unregulated AC power from the mains to a stable, constant DC voltage or DC current by using an embedded voltage regulator circuit. It maintains a consistent output voltage or current in regardless of changes in the load or the input voltage.

By the control method, regulated DC power supplies are categorized into Linear DC power supply and Switching Mode DC Power Supply. Linear DC power supplies features low noise and fast response to load change, suitable for sensitive analog and RF circuits, laboratory testing and research. Switching DC power supplies features high output efficiency, compact and lightweight, suitable for both laboratory and industrial applications, like QA/QC, calibration, troubleshooting, aging tests.

By numbers of outputs, regulated DC power supplies are categorized into single output (1-channel), dual output (2-channel), triple output (3-channel), quad output (4-channel), quint output (5-channel) or even more output types.
