Corona discharge applications utilize ionized gas (plasma) for surface treatment, pollution control, and industrial processing. The corona plasma is generated by the application of high voltage pulses.
AHV 15kV 200mA series high voltage AC power supply provides high-frequency and high-stability outputs at 15kV (30kV peak to peak) for surface modification, including corona treatment and electrostatic processing. 15kV is sufficient for high-efficiency corona discharge, generally at frequency of 8kHz to 30kHz.
AHV 15kV 200mA series high voltage AC power supply is available with a wider frequency range, with different options from 1kHz to 100kHz either at a fixed frequency or an adjustable frequency range.
Options of fixed frequency range: 1kHz, 2kHz, 3kHz, 4kHz, 5kHz, 8kHz, 10kHz, 20kHz, 30kHz, 40kHz, 50kHz, 100kHz
Options of adjustable frequency range: 2kHz ~ 8kHz; 5kHz ~ 10kHz; 10kHz ~ 20kHz; 10kHz ~ 30kHz; 20kHz ~ 30kHz; 20kHz ~ 40kHz; 20kHz ~ 50kHz; 30kHz ~ 40kHz; 30kHz ~ 50kHz; 50kHz ~ 100kHz
Corona discharge has a wide range of practical applications that exploit its ability to generate ions, ozone, UV light, and charged aerosols. Key applications include:
- Air and gas treatment: used in gas purification and particulate charging for collection; used in industrial and laboratory ozone generation for odor removal, disinfection, and chemical oxidation (water treatment, VOC removal in air streams).
- Surface treatment and materials processing: used in polymer surface activation to surface energy of plastics and films before printing, coating, or bonding; used in Ozone/UV-assisted surface cleaning and sterilization to remove organic contaminants and promotes chemical functionalization.
- Electrostatic processes: used in electrostatic precipitation in power plants and industrial boilers; used in electrostatic coating and printing to improve substrate wettability (corona treatment of polymers for better ink/adhesive adhesion).
- Electronics and HV engineering: used in partial discharge testing and diagnostics to locate insulation defects in cables, transformers, and HV equipment; used in high-voltage corona rings and shielding to control discharge location and reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI).
