A AC power source, also known as AC power supply, provides variable and constant AC voltage and frequency to AC-powered devices. Having adjustable output voltage, frequency and waveform, an AC power sources can simulate different kinds of electrical grids, as well as grid interruption, surges, fault conditions. They are widely used in laboratory testing, R&D and industrial production.

A programmable AC power source (AC power supply) provides remote control on output voltage and frequency via RS232, RS485, USB or LAN for automated test systems. Output voltage and frequency can be remotely set and read back.

All the above AC power sources output constant and adjustable AC voltage. The output is always in constant voltage mode. In some specific test tasks, instead of constant voltage, constant current is required. Then we need an AC constant current source in this scenario. An AC constant current source outputs constant and adjustable AC current at a specific frequency. The output is always in constant current mode.

Typically, AC constant current sources are required at low voltage and high current. Output voltage is normally 5V 10V 15V 20V 30V, while output current is always like 1000A 2000A.
